Weatherford Construction Group (WCG) is a Native-owned, full-service general contracting firm based in Charleston, South Carolina. Meet The Team

Matthew Weatherford
Founder & President
Matt’s passion for construction began at a young age, leading him to earn a degree in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University. After graduation, he honed his skills working with some of the most reputable construction firms on the East
Coast, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of the industry.
Driven by a desire to understand construction from the ground up, Matt took on a variety of roles that built the foundation for what would become Weatherford Construction Group. From the start, he knew his ultimate goal was to create a company that reflects his values of quality, integrity, and innovation — a vision he now brings to life with every project.
As Founder and President, Matt is actively involved in all projects, ensuring each client receives the attention, communication, and craftsmanship that define WCG’s reputation.
When he’s not on-site, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter. Beyond building structures, he’s focused on building a lasting legacy — one rooted in family, community, and the pursuit of excellence.

Jay Hart
Project Manager
A Mount Pleasant native, Jay brings both local insight and professional expertise to every project he manages. He earned his degree in Construction Science and Management from Clemson University, where he built a strong foundation in construction principles and project leadership.
As Project Manager, Jay oversees all phases of assigned projects — from planning and safety to operations and closeout. He ensures that each project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. Working closely with the design team and trade partners, Jay prioritizes communication, collaboration, and client satisfaction throughout the construction process.
Most recently, Jay successfully managed the Quality International Cartage project from start to finish, demonstrating his commitment to excellence and his ability to deliver complex projects efficiently and effectively.
When he’s not on-site, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and daughter, and fishing the Charleston waters. His dedication to both his craft and his community reflects the core values that define Weatherford Construction Group.
